Palmetto Speech and Language Services

Our Mission Statement & PhilosophyWelcome

is that every child has a special way to communicate; it is our mission to discover and maximize it to the fullest potential.

Palmetto Speech & Language Services, llc

was founded in 2009 by Kelly Barrell, M.A., CCC-SLP and Erin Duncan, M.S., CCC-SLP. We are both native South Carolinians from Jasper County. After working in a variety of settings including school based, early intervention, pediatric rehab, hospital and private practice, we discovered that our community is significantly under served in receiving therapeutic intervention. Combined, we have over 12 years of experience serving a diverse population and are both certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). We are committed to providing these services to our local community.

S.O.S Approach to Feeding

Kelly and Erin are both trained and certified in the S.O.S Approach to Feeding.

Testimonials

"We moved from New York City to Bluffton almost three years ago. I knew our son RJ then one and a half, had speech, sensory, and feeding issues. By "divine intervention" I met Kelly. Kelly worked tirelessly with us. My son, who is shy by nature, immediately took to her personality. We worked on his feeding, chewing and swallowing. Up until Kelly came into our lives, RJ had everything blended or pureed. It was exhausting, frustrating and tiresome. Kelly taught me how to cope, she taught me the "tools" I needed to help our son overcome this. I believe parental involvement is key! I can't imagine where my son would be if not for her wisdom, patience, kindness and her "don't give up attitude". I'm happy to report RJ will be 4 this coming april and just yesterday was devouring a cheeseburger and fries!! Talk about coming a long way! I know without question, that without Kelly...he wouldn't have come this far, and for that..we will forever be grateful!"

"We are only about two months in, but I can already see the positive influence Erin is having on Layton, my two year old with feeding and sensory issues!"
